Meet the Team

Tom Essenburg
Owner

Tom is well known in the fitness business, with over 33 years of fitness experience. He started in the business by opening Ramblewood Racquet Club in Grandville in the early 70’s. For 18 years, he ran the day to day operations of East Hills Athletic Club in Grand Rapids during that time the club grew form 1,000 to over 5,000 members.

As a former high school teacher and administrator, Tom is recognized as a top football official in both the high school and collegiate levels. He is also found working high school and summer recreation softball.

“I have always loved the fitness business and receive great enjoyment in seeing Elite members feeling better about themselves. It is very rewarding to see their smiles and hear how fitness helps to make them more productive in all areas of their lives.”

Amy Crawley
Fitness Services Director

She has a BS from the University of Nebraska at Omaha specializing in exercise science and psychology and is current working towards a M.H.S. from Grand Valley State University. She has been a NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer for five years. She currently competes in NPC fitness and figure competitions and teaches Yogafit classes as well as full time personal training consultations. Her enthusiasm for a fit lifestyle for anybody at any level could be considered contagious.

“I believe being ‘fit’ is to always strive for balance between training, nutrition and active relaxation. I am here to motivate, educate and encourage a healthier lifestyle not only by example but with individual dedication to each member’s personal fitness goals.


Sandie VanBeek
Senior Group Exercise Coordinator

Sandie is currently the Senior Group Fitness Coordinator at Endurance Fitness Alpine. Her certifications consist of AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) since 1994. Yoga Fit certified in level 1 & 2 in 2001. Turbo Kick certified in 2003 and she continued her training into the Silver Sneakers Fitness Program in 2006. Since 2002 she has been holding Instructor Training sessions for individuals that are interested in becoming a leader in the fitness field.

“As fitness professional, working out should be fun and safe. It is my job to offer you a variety of classes that are fun, safe, motivating, and keep you coming back no matter what your fitness level is. Fitness should become a lifetime habit.”
